Tackling Piracy at Sea Conference

Following on from our successful
event that took place in March 2009 we are again running a
conference Tackling Piracy at Sea.
Since international naval forces
have been patrolling the Gulf of Aden, it has been hoped that piracy
in the region will be curbed or cease altogether. However, the
problem has not gone away and indeed there is evidence that piracy
attacks are increasing in other global regions.
Bringing together senior representatives from government, navies, the shipping industry, unions, insurance companies, private security companies and regulatory bodies, Tackling Piracy at Sea will examine the impact of piracy on the shipping industry as well as reviewing the success of naval intervention to date.
Delegates with a vested interest in finding a long-term solution will debate the trend towards arming vessels, tackling piracy via land-based solutions, using technology to combat piracy and discussing whether pirates should be viewed as criminals or terrorists.
