MapGalapagos.gif (5545 bytes)The Galapagos islands are are a world heritage site and on the Equator. They are 600 miles west and part of Ecuador. There are warm and cold currents as the warm Pacific waters mix with those originating from the Antarctic. Some can be strong and the viz can be low making this a site for the more experienced. The climate is not tropical. It has been said that 50 of the 300+ fish species in these waters are unique. Tropical Moorish idols, schools of hammerhead sharks, dolphins, barracudas, sea lions and penguins, they're all here.

They are volcanic islands and some of them are still active. They strictly restrict the number of visitors at any one time. The 15 mile perimeter of all the Islands are a National Park..
