Africa

Mauritius is just off the east coast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean and roughly 40km wide by 52km long. It is the tip of an extinct volcano. Barrier reefs  protect the beaches have dangerous currents, sharks and many wrecks which are only suitable for more experienced diver. Safer diving exists within the reef , with plenty of marine life. The coral island of Ile aux Aigrettes is a conservation area. 

The island is well known for its upmarket goods, resorts and golf courses. This is the island where the Dodo became extinct. Sea temp. approx. 27 C in the summer and 22 C in the winter.
