Europe

Norway includes the northern Lofoten Islands and the island of Svalbard Spitsbergen -no dive details. Norway's fjorded coastline offers spectacular deep, clear water diving, but little marine life other than the enormous seasonal shoals of herring and the Orcas which eat them.

Always fly the 'A' flag when submerged

Wrecks: look but do not touch. If you find a really old wreck, note the spot then notify the police or marine authorities. Some wrecks are known pollution hazards such as Statens Forurensningstilsyn; Strømsvn. 96 ; 0663 Oslo.

Lobsters: Can only be caught with lobster pots, i.e. it is illegal to catch them by hand! It is also illegal to catch fresh-water crayfish.
Crabs: must be at least 13 centimeters across their back.
Cylinders need to be hydrostatically tested every 2 years.
Restricted Diving: No diving by bird sanctuaries, sea farms or military areas. Consult maps, dive operators or local police. Get authorisation from Harbour Masters before diving within any harbour.

Orca whales eat herrings and they feed in the fjords. However the food is running out and the herrings seem to be  further out at sea.
