Central America

 

Panama has some superb diving. The temperature ranges from 70F to 82F in the Pacific with viz of 60ft/20m or better and a little cooler along the Caribbean coastline with viz from 40ft/13m upwards. You could see a wide variety of reef and game fish abundant coral and invertebrates. The coastline is visited by turtles, sharks, wahoo, dolphin and rays, and some of the wrecks date back to the 16th century.

  • The "Autoridad del Canal de Panamá" (Panama Canal Authority or ACP) has the only 2 multiplace chambers (54- inch diameters, double-lock) in the country, one on each side of the isthmus (Miraflores on the Pacific side and Gatun on the Atlantic side). Due to the type of operation at the ACP, CFR regulations are followed to maintain the highest dive safety standards.
