Part of Polynesia |
Truk, also known as Chuuk, is in the Federated States of
Micronesia and world famous for the sinking of the Japanese fleet of 50 or more vessels in WWII. Truk has many wrecks of
Japanese planes and ships destroyed during world war II. Please remember that many
wrecks are war graves and that the ammunition on the sea bed is live.
Dive facilities there are improving, giving the diver facilities access to a fascinating aquatic graveyard. Truk lagoon is another
of Micronesia's incredible undersea phenomena.
The lagoon is nearly 40 miles in diameter and up to 300 feet deep.
Over 100 ships, planes and submarines of WWII are at the bottom.

None (yet). We haven't been diving here (yet). Can you let us know what the wrecks are like? Such as the : Fujikara Maru; Hina Maru (the largest wreck in the lagoon); Shinkoku Maru, San Francisco Maru, and many others. If you are not sure what to write, please checkout our Oman, New Zealand, and Egypt pages for ideas, then your log book.
